Organ concert series toccatawil
About toccatawil
In 1989, the church musicians of the Protestant and Catholic parishes in Wil founded the concert series Wiler Abendmusiken, which was renamed toccatawil in 2007. The program includes organ concerts as well as other concert formats featuring sacred music in a variety of ensembles and settings. The concerts take place at St. Nicholas Church, St. Peter’s Church, the Kreuzkirche, the Convent Church of St. Catherine, the New Apostolic Church and the pilgrimage church of Maria Dreibrunnen.
The program also includes the Orgelspaziergang zur Weihnachtszeit (Christmas Organ Walk), held on the first Sunday of the year and visiting several organs at different locations throughout Wil. Since 2025, the Orgeltriduum, a three-part concert series, has also been part of the program. This series, held at St. Nicholas Church, is complemented by organ courses focusing on improvisation and interpretation and is organized in cooperation with the Diözesane Kirchenmusikschule St. Gallen. The Orgeltriduum attracts artists from Switzerland and abroad.
Martin Welzel has been the Artistic Director of toccatawil since 2023.
